Digital Defence exists to improve how online safety is understood, enforced and embedded across systems, institutions and platforms. Our work focuses on structural reform, not surface-level solutions, with a goal of ensuring digital environments are safer, more accountable and more inclusive for everyone.
We design and deliver campaigns that combine research, policy development, education and lived experience. Each campaign addresses a clear gap in existing laws, systems or public understanding. By focusing on practical, high-impact interventions, we aim to reduce harm, strengthen protections and shift responsibility toward those with the power to make change.

We bring together people with expertise in law, technology, education, policy and advocacy, along with those who have been directly affected by online harm. A Recognised Voice in Online Safety
Digital Defence is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) by the Australian Taxation Office. Our collaborations span local councils, national lawmakers, media organisations, and major digital platforms.
Digital Defence is led by a small, committed team supported by a broader network of working group members, volunteers, advisors and partners. Our people come from diverse professional and personal backgrounds including law, technology, education, community organising and advocacy.
The strength of our team lies in collaboration. We work across campaign streams, combining specialist knowledge with lived experience to promote better accountability systems and drive reform. Each project is shaped by a working group that brings together relevant skills and lived experience.
Our structure supports collaboration across campaigns while allowing for deep focus and bringing in expertise within each stream. This enables us to respond flexibly, share insight across disciplines and maintain momentum as the organisation grows.
